The University of Exeter (College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences, Camborne School of Mines) seeks a lecturer in Sedimentology, Stratigraphy and Palaeoclimate to work in Penryn, Camborne, Cornwall.


Salary is £33,943 to £41,709 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time, contract, one-year, maternity-leave teaching position, starting in September 2017.

They are currently seeking a Lecturer (Education in Scholarship) in Sedimentology, Stratigraphy and Palaeoclimate to contribute to teaching within Camborne School of Mines and to the development and implementation of innovative teaching practices across the College.


The successful applicant will have responsibility for the design, development and production of teaching and learning materials; and deliver a range of modules, fieldwork, residentials at undergraduate level, within the areas of Sedimentology, Stratigraphy and Palaeoclimate. He/she will work with the Head of CSM, the Director of Education and the Programme Director for the Undergraduate Geology programmes to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of teaching in accordance with the College’s education strategy and implementing the External Affairs strategy.


- Possess a depth or breadth of specialist knowledge demonstrated by a PhD (or demonstrable equivalent industrial experience) in Sedimentology, Stratigraphy and Palaeoclimate or equivalent; and of the core knowledge relating to the academic area in order to teach and support learning on academic area modules.
- Possess an in-depth understanding of own specialism to enable the development of new knowledge and understanding within the field.
- Have experience of teaching in an HE environment.
