LIMPACS - Human Impacts on Lake Ecosystems

LIMPACS, ran under PAGES Focus 4, and was concerned with understanding how and why lake ecosystems have changed, are changing and might change in the future, especially on decadal timescales.

Additionally, LIMPACS sought to understand the role of lakes in Earth System processes through time, especially with respect to biogeochemical processes (e.g., in transforming and storing carbon) and as centres of biodiversity.

From 2012-13 onwards the activites of the LIMPACS Working Group were merged into the Focus 4 themes: Land Use and Cover, Regional Integration, Soil and Sediment, Water, and Biodiversity.
