The 13th International Conference on Mercury as a Global Pollutant will be held 16–21 July 2017 in Providence, Rhode Island, USA.

Theme

The conference theme is "Integrating Mercury Research and Policy in a Changing World".

Background

This conference has been held every two to three years since 1990. The 13th ICMGP will follow the tradition of previous ICMGP conferences with synthesis, detailed sessions and presentations on mercury science, technology, management and human health.

Description

Mercury is a complex, multifaceted contaminant whose transformations, bioaccumulation, and exposure are affected by numerous interacting processes and phenomena. International efforts to curb mercury emissions and local efforts to address mercury contamination both rely on high quality research. Accordingly, the conference will engage a diverse community of participants, including industry, government, research institutions, NGOs, and academics. The technical program will reflect the latest advances, highlight critical understanding, and promote active discussion of the science of mercury and innovative strategies for its management.
